Four questions that sound alike
The figures above answer different questions, and the numbers differ because of it. None of them proves where a particular person or device is.
- Registered in Israel
- The registry (RIPE NCC) lists the holder of the block with country code IL. It says who holds the addresses, not where they are used.
- Geolocated to Israel
- A geolocation database (here DB-IP Lite) estimates that the block is used in Israel. Foreign-registered blocks can be geolocated here, and Israeli-registered blocks can be used abroad.
- Announced by an Israeli network
- A network whose AS number is registered in Israel originates the route in BGP. Israeli providers also announce blocks registered abroad, such as the content-delivery caches they host.
- Physically in Israel
- Where the equipment or the person actually is. No public dataset can establish this for an address; only the network operator knows.
Israeli networks by announced IPv4 space
AS numbers registered to organisations in Israel, ranked by the IPv4 address space they originate in our copy of the BGP table. The names are those in the registry; one operator often runs several AS numbers (fixed, mobile, international, business).

Where Israeli IPv4 addresses are estimated to be used
IPv4 addresses that DB-IP Lite places in Israel, summed per district. This is a location estimate for address blocks, usually where the provider's equipment is, not where people live.
| District | IPv4 addresses (est.) | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Tel Aviv District IL-TA | 4,569,475 | 44.7% |
| Central District IL-M | 3,200,199 | 31.3% |
| Haifa District IL-HA | 1,340,941 | 13.1% |
| Jerusalem District IL-JM | 486,019 | 4.8% |
| Southern District IL-D | 438,316 | 4.3% |
| Northern District IL-Z | 147,558 | 1.4% |
| Judea and Samaria Area (Other label in the source) | 28,320 | 0.3% |
| No district in the source | 9,280 | 0.1% |
DB-IP labels Israeli ranges with the six districts (ISO 3166-2:IL) and, for a small number of places, with “Judea and Samaria Area”, which is not an ISO district: that label is shown as the source writes it and is never merged into a district. Ranges the source assigns to another country code are not counted here. The Tel Aviv and Central districts' large share reflects where the providers' central equipment and data centres are (Tel Aviv, Petah Tikva, Rosh HaAyin), not where their customers live.
Where Israeli networks meet
Networks exchange traffic directly at internet exchange points (IXPs) instead of carrying it abroad and back over the submarine cables. Israel's exchanges are run by ISOC-IL and by ixFabric.
| Exchange | Operated by | City | PeeringDB |
|---|---|---|---|
| IIX Israel | ISOC-IL | Petah Tikva | ix/393 |
| IL-IX | ISOC-IL | Several sites | ix/4783 |
| ixFabric Tel-Aviv | ixFabric | Tel Aviv | ix/3840 |
Source: PeeringDB, checked Oct 31, 2026. PeeringDB lists 21 data centres in Israel, most of them in Petah Tikva, Rosh HaAyin, Tel Aviv and Tirat Carmel.
Who does what
RIPE NCC
The regional internet registry for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia, based in Amsterdam. It allocates IPv4 and IPv6 blocks and AS numbers to Israeli operators and publishes who holds them.
ISOC-IL
The Israel Internet Association manages the .il country-code domain and runs the IIX and IL-IX exchanges. Registration data for .il domains is published over WHOIS (whois.isoc.org.il); IANA's RDAP registry lists no RDAP server for .il.
Ministry of Communications
Licenses and regulates telecommunications in Israel, including internet access providers and infrastructure owners. It does not allocate IP addresses.
IUCC (Machba)
The Inter-University Computation Center runs Israel's national research and education network (AS378), which connects the universities, among them the Hebrew University (128.139.0.0/16).
Privacy Protection Authority
Israel's data protection regulator, under the Ministry of Justice. It enforces the Protection of Privacy Law, which since Amendment 13 (in force 14 August 2025) treats identifiers such as IP addresses as personal information.
National Cyber Directorate
The national cyber-security authority. It runs CERT-IL, the national computer emergency response team, which takes incident reports from the public and from organisations.
How these figures have changed
One snapshot per dataset build, kept on our server. The first rows appear after the first builds; nothing is back-filled or estimated.
| Snapshot | IPv4 registered | ASNs announcing | of them with IPv6 | RPKI valid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 31, 2026, 19:10 | 8,051,840 | 331 | 25.1% | 81.3% |
How these numbers are made
Registered space is the sum of IPv4 and IPv6 blocks that the RIPE NCC delegation file lists as allocated or assigned to holders in Israel (country code IL). AS numbers are counted the same way. Announced routes come from APNIC's view of the global BGP table: one collector's view, so a route filtered before it reaches that collector is missing. RPKI status is route origin validation (RFC 6811) of each announced prefix and its origin AS against the validated ROAs published by the five RIRs. Geolocated addresses are the IPv4 ranges DB-IP Lite places in Israel (country code IL), whoever holds them.
